Our Achievements

Green Commandos has been instrumental in bringing about a change in the mindset of people towards the environment around them!

The problem : No waste segregation

What we have done:

  • Part of SWMRT (Solid Waste Management Round Table)
  • Introduced waste segregation in around 4000 apartments and 5 corporate offices and 2 villages.
  • Implementation of DWCCs in Bangalore.
  • Provided volunteers for the Bengaluru Recycling Habba, 2011 a roaring success to be replicated in 3 more cities next year!


The problem : Too many plastic bags

What we have done:

  • Held campaigns outside supermarkets to generate awareness of ills of using plastic bags.
  • Promoted SHGs who specialize in making cloth bags.
  • Distributed around 1800 cloth bags till date!


The problem : Deforestation for road widening and construction

What we have done:

  • Held many plantation drives in Bangalore researching into the nature of trees to be planted, focusing more on native plants.
  • Putting tree guards on already planted trees.


The problem : Lack of awareness in Environmental issues

What we have done:

  • Set up Green Clubs in 10 schools in Bangalore to educate children about local and relevant environmental issues.
  • Held various awareness talks addressing pressing issues waste segregation, renewable energy, rooftop gardening etc.


The problem : Lack of proper lighting in villages.

What we have done:

  • Distributed LED lamps in schools, with charging stations (solar) set up in the schools incentivised education.
  • Providing employment to one person by introducing the Topolino.


The problem : Public urination and dumping of garbage on the roads.

What we have done:

  • Cleaned up a road ourselves to make a statement that average citizens are willing to stand up for change.
  • In the process of tracking the cleaning and recording the glitches in the system because of which people resort to such activities.
  • Getting into talks with the policy makers to find the best solution.
